Day of the Dead, a Mexican Tradition, has Crossed the Boarder!

Posted by ozybracelets on October 30, 2011 at 3:35 AM

Spanish: Dia de los Muertos is a Catholic Feast Day observed on November 2nd. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it has the equivalency of a national holiday incorporating gatherings of family and friends to remember and pray for loved ones who have died. The celebration takes place on November 1st and 2nd, in connection with the Catholic Feast of All Saint's Day (November 1st) and All Souls Day (November 2nd).

Traditions connected with the holiday include honoring the deceased by building private alters embellished with sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the beloved departed, and visiting their grave site, adorning them with these gifts.

The celebration of Dia de los Muertos is an act of love that has crossed the boarder and begun a trend in the USA. Tucson, AZ celebrates Dia de los Muertos with community participants dressed in an array of colorful skeletal costumes in a procession that culminates with dropping messages, addressed to their loved ones, into a large urn and burning them in a commemorative bonfire.

Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Rosary Bracelets

Dedicated to the Feast of All Souls Day and the Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebrations, the collection of Dia de los Muertos Rosary Bracelets are designed with skulls and colorful beads and are fully functional rosary bracelets with all the components necessary to pray the rosary, another Catholic tradition. Made to slip or click on for ease and frequency of use, every Dia de los Muertos Rosary Bracelet includes the Medal of the Immaculate Conception better known as the Miraculous Medal for the many miracles attributed to it. The Miraculous Medal was designed by Our Blessed Mother, herself, who promised us graces for wearing it.

Offering a departed loved one the prayers of the rosary is a tradition in Mexican Catholic families as well as many Catholic families around the world to assist the departed with the hope of spending less time in Purgatory and/or averting Hell. Made of Stone, Glass Pearls, Crystals, and Oxidized Silver, the Dia de los Muertos Rosary bracelets offer comfort, through the grace received by wearing the Miraculous Medal, and appealing to the traditions of the Dia de los Muertos ceremony.
